Exploring Calgary's Telus Spark

Phenomena : Exploring science at Telus Spark
Robots, VR and vortices! Where else in Calgary can you discover so many exciting things?
From January 19 to March 26, the TELUS Spark Science Centre in Calgary is hosting its latest exhibition, "Phenomena." This immersive experience combines science, discovery, and hands-on activities, making it the perfect destination for families during the colder months.
"The Robot Ride Was So Cool!"
Nine-year-old Dylan had a blast trying out the Robot Ride, one of the science centre’s most exciting attractions. Sitting on a chair attached to the end of a giant robotic arm, Dylan chose Level 2, which offered smooth, fun movements perfect for younger participants. "It wasn’t scary, but it was really fun and exciting!" he said. Dylan, who dreams of building robots in the future, added that this experience made him even more curious about robotics.
Exploring Virtual Worlds with VR
Another standout experience for Dylan was the VR (Virtual Reality) Zone, where visitors put on VR goggles and step into immersive digital worlds. "It was amazing! I felt like I was really there," Dylan shared. The VR experience was a hit with both kids and adults, offering a unique way to learn about science and technology in action.
A Dizzying Adventure with the Vortex
Dylan also enjoyed the Vortex Tunnel, an exhibit that creates the illusion of spinning as visitors walk through it. "It made me feel a little dizzy, but it was so much fun!" he said, laughing. The exhibit is a favorite among kids, giving them a hands-on way to explore physics in action.
"Small but Packed with Activities"
Dylan’s mother, Jang Juwon, also shared her thoughts: "I love that the exhibits change every three months. It’s always fresh, and you can easily spend the whole day here exploring." She noted that the centre is especially great for families during the winter, offering plenty of indoor activities to keep kids entertained and learning.
A Science Wonderland for All Ages
TELUS Spark offers much more than just the Robot Ride, VR Zone, and Vortex Tunnel. Visitors can enjoy the Infinity Dome Theatre, interactive digital galleries, and countless hands-on science exhibits. The centre’s focus on making science fun and engaging ensures that every family leaves with new knowledge and unforgettable memories.
If you’re looking for a fun and educational indoor activity in Calgary, don’t miss the "Phenomena" exhibition at TELUS Spark Science Centre. It’s open until March 26 and promises to inspire curiosity in science for visitors of all ages.
